Instructors can now add an existing Vivipod Space to Canvas Course Navigation or embed it on another website.
It is still the same Space, with the same Topics, Posts, members, moderation, comments, notifications, and access rules.
Add a Space to Canvas
Open the Space’s Share dialog and choose Canvas. Vivipod generates a configuration URL for adding that Space to Canvas Course Navigation.
You will see the destination, step-by-step installation instructions, and a manual setup option:
- Open the intended Canvas course.
- Go to Settings → Apps → View App Configurations.
- Choose + App and select the configuration type By URL.
- Paste the configuration URL from Vivipod.
- Add the tool, then enable or position it under Settings → Navigation if needed.
When students select the course-navigation item, the Vivipod Space opens inside Canvas. They can sign in and record without leaving the embedded view, or open Vivipod in a full window if needed.
Embed a Space on another Site
The new Embed tab generates iframe code for blogs, content-management systems, course sites, and other pages that accept embeds.
The iframe asks for camera, microphone, and full-screen permissions so recording works when the host platform allows it. The Space’s existing access and membership rules still apply.
A Quick Note on What’s Included
This first release makes it easy to bring an existing Space into Canvas. It’s not a full LTI integration yet, so it won’t:
- sync Canvas rosters or roles
- create Spaces or add members automatically
- create Canvas assignments through deep linking
- pass grades back or integrate with SpeedGrader and rubrics
- carry the setup over when a course is copied
We started with a simple, useful way to embed Vivipod so we can learn what instructors need before building a deeper integration.
We’d love to hear what works, what doesn’t, and what you’d like us to build next. Send your suggestions to support@vivipod.com or reach out if you’d simply like to chat about your Canvas workflow. Your feedback will help shape our Canvas and LTI roadmap.
Canvas administrators may restrict installation by URL or require a review. If your institution requires a different setup, the Share dialog also includes instructions for adding Vivipod as a Redirect Tool.
Keep the course system of record
Canvas can remain the home for modules, grades, and assignments while Vivipod provides a dedicated place for asynchronous video discussion. Embedding keeps the conversation close to the rest of the course without trying to replace your LMS.
Create or choose a Space, open Share, and select Canvas or Embed.
