A Space is the home for a course, section, or community in Vivipod. Topics and video posts live inside it. This tutorial assumes you already have an account—if not, start with Get started with Vivipod.
Before you can create a Space, your email inbox must be verified. Vivipod needs a confirmed address so membership and activity mail can reach you. If Create Space is blocked or the form asks you to verify, send a code to your inbox (or check settings for your email), enter the 6-digit code, then try again. Sign-in with the email code path usually covers this; Google accounts still need a verified inbox on the account if Vivipod prompts you.
Open your dashboard
After you sign in you land on your dashboard. A new account has no Spaces yet. Use Create Space in the All Spaces section, or the + next to All Spaces. If the control is disabled, finish inbox verification first (see above).
You can also open the form directly at
https://vivipod.com/{your-username}/spaces/new.
Fill in the Create New Space form
The form asks for a few details:
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Space Name | A clear label students will recognize (for example, “Psych 101 Discussions”). |
| Custom URL | A short slug for the Space URL. Letters, numbers, and hyphens only. |
| Description | Optional context for members about how the Space is used. |
| Access Level | Open (anyone can view; membership is automatic) or Private (approval required; only members can view). |
For a first course Space, Open is often enough when the link is only shared with your class. Use Private when you want to approve who can join.
Choose Create Space when the fields look right.
What you get after creating a Space
Vivipod opens the new Space. You own it, the URL follows
/{your-username}/{space-slug}, and a default General topic is ready for
posts (moderated by default).
From here you can:
- Rename or add Topics for weeks, units, or assignment prompts
- Share the Space link or use Share for Canvas and web embeds
- Record the first post into the General topic
Open vs private access (quick reference)
- Open — Membership is automatic and anyone with the link can view without joining.
- Private — Membership requires approval from an admin. Only members can view the Space.
You can edit name, description, URL, and access later from the Space settings (space owners only).
