A video post can begin a discussion, but it should not have to carry the whole conversation.
Vivipod now supports comments on Posts, @mentions, timestamped feedback,
in-app activity, and configurable email notifications. Together, these changes
make it easier for a class to return after the initial recording and continue
the exchange.
Comments add the second turn
Space administrators can enable comments at the Topic level. When comments are on, people who can participate in the Topic can respond directly beneath a Post.
That opens several useful teaching patterns:
- ask a follow-up question after a student explanation
- let peers identify a strong choice or unresolved point
- invite the author to clarify or revise an idea
- continue a discussion without requiring another recording

Point to the exact moment
When a video is playing, a commenter can include its current timestamp. The timestamp becomes a link back to that moment.
Instead of writing “near the middle,” an instructor or peer can attach feedback to the claim, demonstration, or transition they mean. This is especially useful for presentations, language practice, project walkthroughs, and screen-based explanations.
Bring the right person back
Comments and Post descriptions support @mentions. Mentioning a Space member
creates separate mention activity so a question or handoff does not depend on
someone checking the Topic by chance.
The notification bell now gathers activity across Spaces, including:
- mentions
- comments on a Post
- new Topic posts for administrators
- Space join requests
- membership approvals
Selecting an item returns to the relevant Space, Topic, Post, or comment.
Choose when email should arrive
Not every update deserves an immediate email. Notification settings let each person choose which categories reach their inbox and whether they arrive right away, every three hours, daily, weekly, or never.
Time-zone-aware digests group quieter activity while keeping it connected to the original conversation. In-app activity remains available even when email is reduced or disabled.
Why this changes the shape of a Topic
Before comments, a Topic naturally ended as a collection of video responses. Now it can have a second turn: explain, receive a question, return, and respond.
That does not mean every Post needs comments. Instructors can leave them off when a Topic is meant for private submission, moderation, or one-way reflection. The important change is control: the same Space can contain both quiet reflection and active discussion.
