A Post is a video response to a Topic. Open the Topic to record, review your video, and upload it. For drawing, screen sharing, and picture-in-picture, see Recorder Tools: Draw, Pause, Screen, and PiP.
You will need a Space and at least one Topic. See Create Your First Space and Add a Topic to Your Space if you are starting from scratch.
Open Create a post from a Topic
Open your Space and find the Topic you want to respond to. On an empty Topic, choose Create a post. You can also use the purple + next to the Topic title.
The recorder opens with that Topic and Space already selected.
See the prompt, then record
The Topic title and description appear over the camera preview. Read the prompt before you start, then tap it to dismiss it.
Allow camera and microphone access if the browser asks. Press the large record control at the bottom to start. It turns red while recording; the timer in the corner counts up. Press the same control again to pause, then choose Next when you are ready to review.
The recording limit is set per Topic: up to 90 seconds on the free plan or 5 minutes when the Space owner has Plus. Check the limit before recording. Very short takes may be rejected, so record at least a few clear seconds before finishing.
Review, add a description, and upload
Choose Next to preview the clip. You can add a short description with
@mentions of Space members, then choose a thumbnail and select Upload.
- Retake discards the current recording and returns you to the camera.
- A thumbnail is required before upload; Vivipod often captures one from the video automatically. If Upload stays disabled, use the blue capture control to grab a frame.
- Upload sends the video and creates the Post on the Topic you started from.
Sign in to upload to a Space. You can record and download a video without an account.
After upload: published or pending
Where the Post appears next depends on the Topic’s Require approval for new posts setting.

| Approval off | The Post is published immediately on the Topic. |
| Approval on (moderated) | The Post goes to Pending until a space admin publishes it. You may see a “Submitted for review” confirmation. |
In this example the Week 3 Topic is moderated, so the new Post shows a Pending badge and the Topic’s Pending count increases. Space admins can open Pending and publish when ready.
If this is an instructor example, open Pending and choose Publish when it is ready for students to see.
If the Topic has captions turned on (a Vivipod Plus feature), a CC button appears beside the video. The first Space member to press it generates the captions in about ten seconds; everyone after that sees them right away. See Vivipod Plus, captions, and comments.

- Open the Space → Topic → Create a post
- Allow camera/microphone
- Record → pause if needed → Next
- Check playback and thumbnail → Upload
- Confirm the Post on the Topic (Published or Pending)
